Love Poem: Nightmare

Nightmare

Night cloaks the dark sky
with brilliant stars
And twisted, tortured trees surround me
closing me in
Like a doe caught in a hunter’s trap
A lost girl in a nightmare

A twisted, tortured nightmare
created by a sick insomniac
A crazed, masochistic killer

The darkness confuses my senses
Noises make shivers shoot up my spine
and I only become more lost,
as the trail winds
And tree branches snag my dress, cutting my skin
As I shudder from the shadows

Fear makes my heart beat fast,
and tears spring to my eyes
as the branches cut into me

All at once,
the forest opens up and a meadow fills my view
open, beautiful space
yet my eyes watch
for monsters that hide,
 in black shadows

The sound of wings fills the air
as the stars are obscured
by a million ravens
For a moment,
all I can do is stare
and then his arms slide around my waist
Subtle, yet smooth as the snake
that he really is

The eyes of the devil
stare back at mine
And his arms wind around even tighter,
His lips meet mine, hard
and flames consume my soul
His dark poison fills every essence of my body,
as he slowly drains the life
The very breath from me

The end of this nightmare has come,
and yet has begun again
For I will be forever with him,
this devil, this demon
who claims my soul
as his
