Love Poem: New Tears

New Tears

The burning in your face, The stinging in your eyes.
The need for a warm embrace, To stifle up your cries.
The swelling in your throat, The saltiness on your lips.
All you want is hope, When around you, sadness grips.
You feel alone and broken. Words are left unspoken.
It’s the thought of losing the one you love,
That keeps your cries woken.
Just when things turned back around.
When things were getting right.
One small thing can flip you upside down,
And make tears fall all night.
You cry yourself to sleep. You dream.
You awaken from the nightmare. So it seems.
But there’s an aching in your heart. In your eyes, in your face.
Remembering what happened,
Around you start to pace.
The tears again begin to seep.
Silently you begin to weep.
You blame yourself for things gone astray.
Where’s the rewind button? Stop? And replay?
If only you could change the past.
Then you wouldn’t have given in to love so fast.
You’ll remember the good times, Throw out the bad.
There will be no such thing as “The love you had”.
The tears are running, Harder still.
The almost silent whimper,
Becomes a long and high shrill.
You need one more day to say what’s on your mind.
For in those moments, true feelings you will find.
But you know you’ll never get that chance. Your day will never come.
So from now until forever, your tears will continually run.
