Love Poem: Never-Ending Love

Never-Ending Love

They met at fourteen years old, he was
shy but she loved his smile
her brother had brought him home
and he stayed for supper.
Her eyes flirted with him across the table
and he was fascinated . . .
Oh, she yearned for time alone with him
perhaps to give him a passionate kiss
and to feel that hair that fell across his eye.

He came back again and again
and not because of her brother either.
They would sit together talking
holding hands with adoration and
love blossomed . . .
Romance soon led to a true love story.

They were my grandparents . . .
No two were ever in love as much
it was heartwarming to see their devotion
and joy in each other . . .
Yes, they married young
and life was not always easy for them
but they worked hard
and had a very happy life
and their love only grew stronger
and stronger as years passed.
They shared their emotions easily.

They were like salt and pepper
like two peas in a pod
so alike and yet each had a spirit
all their own . . .
Grandpa was such a funny man
always making jokes
and Grandma, well she was so sweet
their love was packed full of love
never-ending . . .
