Love Poem: Mystery

Mystery

Mystery

I would write a poem
and send it on to thee
could I find nouns and verbs
that explain the mystery

of red feathered arrows,
flying to intended mark;
of narcotic music
mesmerizing the dark;

of importuning doves
each bearing a thornless rose,
of giddy walks a'reeling,
from sultry desire exposed;

of diaphanous dreams,
hypnotic visions nigh,
nightly perspiration,
yearning's effort doth supply;

But the muse avoids me,
words flee this smitten mind,
therefore all that is sent
is my love -- unrefined.
