My Wasted Years
Used to be quite an introvert
Never wanted the spotlight on me
That was then this is now
In the spotlight I love to be
Quite a change for this retiring sort
Who tried to divert attention
Away from himself to avoid the focus
Always felt an inner tension
I'm a totally different individual now
Unrecognizable to all my friends
Gregarious seems to describe it well
Don't shy from the camera lens
Guess this was really who I was all along
Things dictated how I appeared
That certainly is all behind me now
My regret, all those wasted years
