My Sweet Daisy

Hah, I threw you out.
I beat you like a rug.
I showed you no diffidence
Out into the street by your ankles I did lug.

Now I know that people say I’m crazy
Crazy I may well be
But watching you there eating my guts out
See, I just couldn’t take it, my little Daisy.

Your smell isn’t sweet like the science books say
And it grew terribly worse, day, to day, to day.
At first when my heart loved you faithful and true
I could stand by with a smug look that lacked rue.

It hurts me to do this, you have to believe
But I’ve grown smarter, stronger, and so
There is no room for you to sit there, indeed
Out the door and over the cliff by your ankles you go.
