My Purpose In Life

What is my purpose in life?
Is it to make you see the positive in yours?
…for what is the purpose of rain?
Is it to ruin my day and make me carry an umbrella,
whose pointy tip will certainly put a run in my pantyhose?
…or is the purpose of rain to water flowers in need of a sip?
What is my purpose in life?
Is it to make you see the positive in yours?
…for what is the purpose of the earth’s soil?
Is it to create mud on the bottom of my shoes,
right below the run in my pantyhose from my umbrella?
…or is the purpose of the earth’s soil to grow flowers that enjoyed their sip?
What is my purpose in life?
Is it to make you see the positive in yours?
…for what is the purpose of the wind?
Is it to dry the rain from my pantyhose
that have a run in them from my umbrella?
…or is the purpose of the wind to make flowers gently sway in harmonic dance?
What is my purpose in life?
Is it to make you see the positive in yours?
…for what was the purpose of my umbrella?
Was it to put a run in my pantyhose?
…or was it to shield me from the rain that made the flowers grow?
Tis only I that can choose my purpose,
and whether or not I want to carry an umbrella.
I choose to forego the umbrella,
and take you by the hand
so we can sip the rain, dance in the mud, dry off in the wind,
and together, you and I will grow.
