My Portion

Lamentations 3:24 (KJV) “The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” Stir the flames of praise inside my heart, where I know Rhythms of hope, faith and love Beating out a pulse, measures of light Falling gentle across the spirit, across the believing … This is my destiny, my fortune and fate, Forever praising the One who created me, The One who gave me life, then grace – Then, LIFE that is forever – eternally aware Because, in faith, I believed – fully In the wonder of this love who inspires me To listen to the beautiful, the tenderness Feeling like the least of these, yet – He invites me to partake of Him, this Jesus Who is light to me – when I’m swimming in darkness Who is hope for me – when I’m desperate, doomed Who is life to me – when I feel death’s menacing clutch, Who is the smile of peace – when I don’t know Where to go, what to do, why I feel so fearful, so alone, Like I don’t have the One who knows my depths, The One who erases all my doubts and fills me with security In HIM…, A believing that arouses in me, praise – praise That will last throughout eternity, praise that flows From the very heart, the soul… where I know He is… Worthy of all honor and praise, all the worship I have He is the One stirring up the flames of praise inside, Where I know He is alive, the most beautiful sacrifice, The answer to my every prayer and the giver of grace That is forever there, flowing through the blood, Poured out from above – blood that takes away sin, Washes the spirit – making it whole again, silencing The fears and wiping away the tears, replacing the ache With peace that frees me from every dread, every suspicion… Because He is love and He is wise and He is good… He silences the shadows and takes away the dark, Replacing the gloom with assurance that I have everything I need, Because – in Him, I have hope, faith and love, bringing A peace that is forever comforting my soul, blessing me more Than I could have ever hoped for – with assurance that forever With Jesus is the only reason I’m forsaking this world, Living on a prayer that He is there, forever my share of eternity… Forever my portion of God’s gift of eternity!
