Love Poem: My People

My People

I met this girl,
Who is crazy sweet.
She’s beautiful
And confident,
She’s light on her feet.
Honesty consumes her,
She’ll tell it how it is.
If she wants to,
She will.
But force herself
Is one thing
She wouldn’t do.
She’s crazy fun,
Loud and aggressive,
And here for the thrill,
Experiencing her journey
And looking for her reason.
She encourages me
Even if she disagrees.
I’d ask her opinion,
In a heartbeat.

Another girl
Who is crazy and wild.
She’s as honest as the other,
More aggressive when she wants.
She parties
And smokes,
But she doesn’t take .
An air of confidence
That holds her high,
She’ll ask when
Your birthday is
Just to know your sign.
She’s beautiful
And friendly,
And a girl’s girl if ever.
She’s open to learning,
When she’s in the wrong,
And you see the effort
She’s making when she does.

Then there’s this boy,
Older than us all.
He’s good looking,
Touchy,
And brooding
Confidence as a crown.
He seems a little
Air headed,
But just get him talking.
He’s open, and deep,
And feels his emotions.
He acts like a player,
But his heart is on his sleeve,
He lives for the poetry,
And breathes off music.
He smokes,
And he’s sporty
And his jokes are dumb.
Ask him his opinion,
And you’ll get great advice
Even if he’s slow on the uptake.

These three people
Have impacted my life
More than I
Could ever care to express.
Not all of them see
Eye to eye,
But each of them
Have their qualities.
An unusual group
If ever there were,
But they’re great.
And I’ll miss them
When they’re gone.
