Love Poem: My New World

My New World

I said goodbye to the world today,
A world that became old and grey.
The sparrow builds up in the tree,
For him I have no sympathy;
From green fields the lark sings clear,
It makes me sad his song to hear,
Up in the bough the small buds share,
Last year's leaves hanging there.
The sunlight peeps to dance away,
Through the clouds that float and play;
But for me the sky is grey,
There is no reason I should stay.

But time and chance bring a hidden store,
Of heart's content and love once more;
A brand new world comes sweet and fair,
With springtime's breath and golden air.
We met and all my world is new,
With all the dreams I have of you;
Love's precious gift is ours to share,
When I reach out to know you're there.
I say good bye to all past fears,
The hollow sound of empty years;
For in my heart new fires burn,
Dear love, when you return.
