My Nancy Hat
There is a dear lady who would be considered one of the great pillars in our church. She never ceases to reach out to others in and out of the church, whether young or old. She simply feels that it is someone's duty to answer a call to do this, that, or the other. So often, it turns out that what needs to be said or done is difficult, but our dear lady has the attitude that, "Lord, if no one else desires to do it, why not me"?
I tell you, I know of great deeds done and wise words spoken by our dear lady, but I shall share just one deed done by her for me. It was most unusual and surprising but much appreciated, touching and moving me deeply. She is most assuredly a conduit through which God works. God often does things for us that we never bother to ask of him. He cares about even the little things.
There was a time in my life that I never paid attention to roses, much less pausing to smell them. I mostly saw the forest but never the trees. Things are different now, and I see and observe much more than I used to. That is why my heart was so blessed when Nancy made a hat designed just for me. She did not know that I treasured a warm and comfortable head in the winter season, whether indoors or out.
You see, before Nancy made the hat for me, I would wear my cap around the house indoors. Until my wife learned better about my peculiar habits, she would ask, "Where are you going?" My response was simply, "Nowhere honey, I just don't want my head to be cold". I am certain that Nancy had no way of knowing about 'my cold-headed ways', but The Lord certainly did and cared enough to tell Nancy to make me "A Nancy Hat".
