My Midsummer Swan Song

When the seraphic spring departed it left for me
a posy of purple rose as dainty as the autumn dew.
I kept it in the alluring vase of my craving heart,
soaked in love, so it won’t wither in summer heat.

In midsummer amorous mystique night I’d take you
through the moondust mist to the dancing sea shore,
opening my pulsating heart to its sapphire rhythm.
On your pearly arms I’d place the bouquet and me.

With the enticing tune of whistling zephyr’s flute,
and with the mesmeric melody of the rolling waves,
I’d compose music of my love, resonating for you,
my yearning would glitter as dreams in your eyes.

As I’d reach the crescendo of my summer swan song
nothing more I could take from you, for you’d be mine.
Even when we reach the edge of the cascading twilight,
our path won’t part, you’d love me like you mean it.
