My Mask Has Gone

Trapped inside a gilded cage, I sit alone and swell with rage, the storm outside reflects my mood, of darker thoughts I wish untrue.
My mask is slipping I can no longer hide, hide from what I feel inside, anger and desire in equal measure.
Desire to be myself proud and strong, anger at the desire that I know is wrong, for the heart wants what it can never hold, regardless of what the brain is told.
Dreams and nightmares stretch on forever, of them of you of us together, they blur as one and fade away, the darkness surrenders to the light of day,
My rage within replaced by calm,
My face is bare,
My mask has gone
