Love Poem: my love

my love

no words could explain my feelings for her
or capture the intensity of how it feels to look at her.
i could tell you her eyes are like the glistening water on a stream in summer
next to a bed of roses as flushed as her cheeks
but you will never know what it feels like to feel as though you’re floating down that stream.
i could tell you her scent is sweeter
than vanilla pods that perch in trees
with trunks the colour of cinnamon and caramel similar to her hair,
or that the floral vines entwining the trees match her curls but you’ll never truly get it.
i could search every word ever made
and i wouldn’t be able to find the right one to fit how her lips feel on mine,
or how i can’t stop watching them move when she talks.
she is entrancing.
i feel like the whole world stops moving when she looks at me.
when she laughs it is the only thing i hear.
every other noise is blocked out.
like birds tweeting in summer evenings and you can feel the warm rays of sunshine on your skin as the sun sets
and you know that every bad day has turned out okay
and every other bad day will turn out okay too because the birds are saying so with every note and whistle.
i once thought love was black and white,
but it is every colour in the rainbow.
it is the colour of her blushed cheeks,
every blue swirl in her eye,
the yellow sunshine that she is.
it is my favourite shades of green
and it is orange like the sunset when the birds sing.
it is more than i ever imagined it to feel.
to be completely consumed by another human. to feel connected at the soul.
to love and to be loved.
to be hers.
and to know that she is mine.
