My Joy - My Boy

They said you were just a dog… I told them you were my joy, my boy – Quote by poet I came to you in a dream last night You touched my coat, smiling at the thought You breathed in my love, my warmth You felt the joy found as time rejoiced… We were together again, stirred by the wonder I came to you when you least expected me You were lonely and life was filled with sadness When you saw me, your eyes reflected… All the joy and love, the feelings of our connection The bond that assured us both we knew real affection I came to you in a dream last night Because you needed my quiet revelation The insight into your heart and soul The knowing that you are full of light You are the smile who colored my heart In a lemony sunshine, hues of love and kindness I came to you when you were sleeping soundly You would never wake, at least not until I left you Your heart would beam when I licked you Your soul would laugh when I nuzzled next to you Your mind would feel peace when I met you There in your heart, where I will always protect you I came to you in a dream last night You never woke because I knew it was wise To give you a moment of silent assurance A promise, a whisper, of peace that secured Your heart and soul, your joy and delight… Because to you, my life… I wasn’t just a dog I was the center of your world, your light… Your little boy, your only joy… your child!
