My Hero

he was the first man to see me naked
he was the first man to kiss me
the first man who told me he loved me
the first man to hold me in his arms
the first man I had dinner with and then I threw up all over him
he was the first man I danced with
and I was so happy my feet never touched the ground
he was and will always be my first love

he was my first car date
the first man I went to the movies with
and he paid for everything, expecting nothing in return
he was the first man I shared an ice cream cone with
and we both wound up messy and sticky
he was the first man who told me he was proud of me
he was and will always be my knight in shining armor

he was the first man who read to me
and he taught me to read
he taught me how to ride a bike
he taught me how to drive a car
he was the first man who dared me
to take a risk and follow my dreams
he was the first me who told me
i was strong and to stand up for my convictions
he was and will always be
