Love Poem: My Heart Gave Out

My Heart Gave Out

This love affair of ours
has reached the freshness limit
Love stamped with an expiration date
Manufactured intimacy rejects,
congealed feelings been sitting too long on the shelf
Not attended,
no adjustment to the minutiae of change
Promises rescinded ...
what flows out and what comes back ain't the same
Crimson red is my passion,
pulmonary blue is my pain
I'm afraid to admit, my heart is giving out again
Entangled emotions ... heart cries
Strangled desires ... love dies
No rhyme or reason ... asphyxiated lies
You placed the pillow
between my face and your back
This stone cold silence
is giving my heart an anxiety attack
Manufactured cardiac defect,
unvoiced feelings been circulating with terminal effect
Only have fading memories,
our Dorian portrait of happiness now starting to change
Sacred vows amended ...
what flows out and what comes back ain't the same
Scarlet red is my passion,
flat line blue is my pain
Dead are my pleas,
resuscitation efforts failed again
Postmortem last entry:
seems my heart just gave out in the end
