My Fragile Heart

My fragile heart was splintered by shards of glass The trauma of my ex leaving without a word had cut so deeply I didn’t want anyone else in my life My whole world was in T A T T E R S Many months passed and we met on a balmy summer evening in June The attraction was instant … But your huge blue eyes contained a sadness, which mirrored my own Neither of us wanted to make the same mistake again We’d both been hurt before Slowly ever so slowly the bond of trust grew between us And as time passed we became inseparable That Christmas you presented me with a box I was intrigued as it was far too big for a ring Cautiously I opened it Laying on the purple velvet were two identical gold chains … at the end of each chain was a jigsaw piece - they fitted together perfectly! At that moment I knew I’d found my soulmate for life We placed the chains around each-others neck Where they remain to this very day Contest All the Little Pieces Sponsored by Broken Wings 09~14~16
