My Dear Mother

A heart that's full of unconditional love.
A sweet and contrite spirit that was sent from above.
The meekness and beauty of a wild white dove.
Always give me a good word to keep me encouraged.
And always a hug when I'm feeling discouraged.
From diapers, to doing hair, to helping learn to tie my shoe.
There's no limit to the things a mother would do.
She would give if she had, even if it was her last.
When I'm sad she would say, honey this to will pass.
Although she struggled cause dad wasn't there.
She fought the good fight to show how much she care.
Mama always told me never settle for less.
And with those words I strive to do my best.
I know I can always have Mona to depend on.
She agrees when I'm right and corrects me when I'm wrong.
When I look into the mirror my mother is what I see.
For she's a special friend, all I ever wanted to be.
I cherish her now for there is no other.
That can take the place of "My Dear Mother."
