Murphy's Law

When only memories remain, love slowly starts to fall apart. For hope is consumed by the pain that's eating away at my heart. Once stung by betrayal's sharp sting, my entire world suddenly changed. And taking off my wedding ring, I felt abandoned and estranged. Praying passion's flame was still lit I searched my broken heart each day. And yet, I could never find it, for you drove all such thoughts away. Late at night, you slipped out of view while I tried to conceal my shame. And now I must accept we're through, though my heart still whispers your name. I'm a victim of Murphy's law, our marriage was doomed from the start. For our perfect match had a flaw, and now, another owns your heart. (Quatrain) 2/19/2015
