Monsters Know Love

Monsters Know Love
I'm not afraid of ghosts
Nor goblins, nor demons of the like
I'm not afraid of rejection
Nor hateful words that sting and bite
I held you in my arms and I tasted freedom
I smiled into your eyes and I felt home
I have a heart. I'm alive. I'm not a monster anymore
They fear me. The rush of the blue and wide
And they can't speak the language of the intellect
My lonely heart died
I broke it down as much as I could bare
And still they tilted their heads and gave me a blank stare
They can not see me. Beauty and Wit blind them
All the more to be And as I much as I want LOVE
They can never get that close to me
I am the rose with thorns of poison
My loneliness an impentrable shield of pain
Thick that tar. I am sorry.
That my guard stands as it may
But I wish on my life you could SEE ME
My heart that sings songs of love
My mind that creates adventures
My lips that caress the worries from your brow
I wish that you could understand me
And love, comfort and protect the imperfect me somehow
