Love Poem: Missing Heaven

Missing Heaven

When my heart aches, almost breaks,
Dewlike tears fall softly,
Sensing my need for letting go,
Allowing the feelings to gently flow.

When my light fades, bouncing on shadows,
Lingering in the dark, twilight
Gesturing from the eventual night,
Breathing melancholy into a dazed silence…

I remember that love can change this all-consuming,
Blazing through my heart, burning
Away the faith and grace, the music that lifts my heart,
Whispers hope into the depression, the doubts,
Rustling wings of abiding peace sing to me –
Of a rising sun, an answered prayer, the second chance,
When I’ll know the reasons, the when and how.

When my memories linger in the grayest mists,
A hazy cloud of discouragement,
Broken moments – so forlorn and downcast,
Revealing the loneliness of winter’s snowdrifts.

When my dreams hide beneath trembling smiles,
Rousing the wonders, the stars in the skies,
Moonlight reflecting all the joy I have,
Reassuring, blessing away the fearful past…

I remember love ‘tis a blessing so rare,
From the souls who see me and send me their share
Of laughter and music, faith and goodness,
The breathless rainbows who erase the storms,
Captivate the moments and restore the hope,
Leave the soul with a promise – He is there beside me,
Ever guiding – ever inviting me to be the woman
Who He created me to be, the woman…

Who can see the tears in the mirror, revealing,
Faded dreams, lost moments and misplaced smiles…
Still – what is real is the love that can always fulfill!
Love that is mine for a while, only a short while,
Then, my smile will ascend to heaven where I’ll never cry.
