Love Poem: Midnight Angel

Midnight Angel

I awoke late in the night
I turned to put my arm around my wife
I noticed the silver-blue moonlight dance across her face
It showed off all her features, her beauty and her grace
I rubbed my eyes and looked twice to see
What I thought was a halo on the pillow between her and me
The sheets looked like the wings of an angel holding her so tight
And she put her head into my chest and pulled me into her light
I felt my demons leave and my soul set free
By the light of an angel next to me
I felt the warmth of her body and could feel her breathe
A real life angel sent to deliver me
She opens her eyes and says “everything’s alright”?
I kiss her on the forehead and say “back to sleep baby, its mid-night”
She puts her head to my chest and drifts back to sleep
Into my heart her love flows deep
My fingers running through her hair
My heart knows no despair
And the moon moves on behind the clouds
I can sleep peacefully now
