Love Poem: Memories Box

Memories Box

I climbed up a grassing knoll to pick the perfect viewing spot
Lay my weary body down and gaze into the dark midnight sky
A warm breeze flows over me like a sweet gentle kiss long forgot
Breathing in the fragrance of lavender overwhelms me and I start to cry

Silly really to cry over the scent of lavender I think to myself
Remembering how you use to tease me and then we would laugh out loud
It has been so long since I took the memories of us off the shelf
My mind wonders what you are doing now as my eyes focus on a cloud

I close my eyes letting memories go by like a vacation slide show
I struggle with my emotions not to let them win the inevitable fight
Already knowing the heart will win and the head will have to go
I drift into a blissful sleep with the memories of you holding me tight

I wake up with the sun shining on my face and feeling renewed
As I walk down the grassy knoll with the perfect view to my surprise
I see a figure of man in the distance but I’m not sure, Is that you?
As he drew closer I could see it was not you just a man with sad eyes

For he was going up to the grassy knoll to pick his perfect view spot
To lay his weary body down and gaze into the sunlight blue sky
Remembering his lost love with the sweet smell of lavender a kiss long forgot
Breathing in the fragrance of lavender I would surely think he would cry

I wonder if you ever take down your memory box or is it tucked away
So far back in your mind behind your life’s adventures and nursery rhymes
For me and mine I will keep it in a special place created just for us forever it will stay
No more will it be hidden in a cluttered mind but in my heart till the end of time
