Love Poem: Medieval Hero

Medieval Hero

My castle is dark, for the monster is here
the chill of the night is soon drawing near
held captive by him, how I long to be free
the dragon is lurking in watch over me

The Queen of Norwich let her jealousy rule
my curse is this attic; a sentence so cruel
we loved the same man; she refused our affair
so then I was banished so she'd have him there

My plea to the jurat was humble and meek
a key to the window; fresh air I do seek
the answer is clear as I spill words on this page
no aroma was welcomed; rosemary or sage

Now as I lie on my bed devising my schemes
to run as fast as I can to the man of my dreams
I realize once more I am trapped; this is real
for the dragon awaits my escape on the hill

Feeling lonely I reach to my dusty nightstand
the ring he once gave me I grip in my hand
he said it was magic as they took me away
"I will find you, my love; it will show me the way"

Closing my eyes I wish he was here
then suddenly I feel his warm lips on my ear
I open them slowly as the room turns to fire
we gaze at each other consumed with desire

He said "Don't be afraid we are leaving tonight"
"The spell will be broken for love is our light"
we held on to each other until he said it's time
we passed through the flames and love launched in the sky
