Love Poem: Mask

Mask

MASK

You were a mask to me,
I don't know why I need to ask
why you're not here anymore.

The fool in love
is always the last
to know.

Everything was
smelling like roses
to me.

How was I to know
they were all your
fake poses fooling me?

You thought it was
pretty cool making
a fool of me!

At least I can escape you,
that's not so easy for
you to do.

Everywhere you go,
there you are,
wearing your mask
again.

It's hard to be true
to your own self,
much less show
your true self
to me.

I knocked your
mask off once
and all I saw
was a ball
of nothing
underneath.

Always knew you
were a ball to be
around.
