Love Poem: Maiden

Maiden

the sun’s new today
but the breeze ageless
this conversation
with moon and stars
this piece of rock
beneath my feet
steadfast
while
the drink you make
too strong
you know when
I walk through the door
you work for tips
while clouds drift
like dreams
there’s a chirping
in empty air
tangled patch of trees
at the edge of town
lies beneath
stars that hide
the juke box plays
but no one dances
clouds that pass
mean nothing
it has already rained
