Love Poem: Lucky Penny

Lucky Penny

I wish upon these lucky pennies,
Hoping luck will come my way.
And I’m lying here like a crumpled piece of paper,
written with all the words I cannot say.

I stand here under the starry sky,
Loving you from afar.
My voice blends into the heavens,
as I scream your name to a shooting star.

I can’t make you love me,
If you do not feel the same.
I’m having trouble breathing,
And you’re the one to blame.

And If I had the chance,
Would you ever let me know?
There’s a place for me somewhere,
But I’m not sure where to go.

The lesson I’ve learned is that,
The easy part is falling in love.
And these pennies can’t grant wishes,
for magic is what they fall short of.

There’s lucky pennies in my pocket,
and each time I wish for you.
I want to stop feeling this way,
But I’m not sure I know how to.
