As I sit here pondering what exactly it was that broke my heart
There are many things I remember, right up to the very start
I can think of everything it couldn’t have been
But then I end up in the same thought process again
It couldn’t have been that smile filled with mischief and light
It couldn’t have been the way you held me, that felt too right
Could it have been those kisses that had me floating in the clouds?
Or was it the way you’re eyes lusted, like I was dressed in the most elegant shroud?
It couldn’t have been the way we made love, no I don’t think so at all
It couldn’t have been your every mannerism that made me want to fall
Could it have been the late nights we stayed up and talked all night?
Or maybe it was the way you chose to never pick a fight?
There were so many things that I adored about you, so many ways I yearned to be true
Oh wait, I remember now what exactly broke my heart…..it was simply loving you
