If a bird never spreads its wings Then it will never fly Just as when we learn to love We also learn to cry If a baby never learns to stand It will never learn to walk It’s more important to learn to listen Than it is to learn to talk The things that matter most in life A friend is teaching me How to not only open up my eyes But open them to see He teaches me to love all things With tender loving grace Everything that shares this earth Has a special place Every time I read James poems I can clearly see That the Lords greatest gift of all Is loves simplicity James has taught me through his poetry that love is the simplest of all things, it is us who over complicate it. It should quite simply be freely given to all things for it is much easier on us to love than it is to hate. His understanding of things like love, compassion and appreciation quite simply amaze me.
