Love's Illusion

Romantic dreams promise you joy, and yet, that's not always the case. Sometimes, you're just somebody's toy, which isn't as easy to face. Fueling hopes and delusion, tears lack any sincerity. And embracing love's illusion, you let lies fog your clarity. You're half of a duality, but love's promise is in question. And viewed in its totality, pretending's now an obsession. Examine why love's on trial, stop insisting you've found bliss. And cease living in denial, happiness is more than a kiss. Doubt can wreak havoc on your mind, so you need to unmask the cause. And though you're scared of what you'll find, confront it, and put love on pause. (Quatrain) 9/3/2017
