Love's First Kiss

What pleasures can be gotten,
And obtained from such a bliss?
While life is never rotten
As love’s first kiss.
To dwell on softest landing,
Such joys we may dismiss.
Our hearts ever-expanding
After love’s first kiss.
Deep red blushes outward brought,
When together meeting this.
A star in the eye is caught
During love’s first kiss.
A laurel made of cherry-stems,
That keeps our minds remiss.
Endearing are the sweeter hems
Weaved through in love’s first kiss!
