Lover's Rhyme
Here i sit lost in time
trying to remember that silly rhyme
it was something simple and true
something that i've said to you
it was something short and sweet
something i said when our eyes would meet
it isn't complex or very long
not even a full verse in a song
but to me it meant everything good
that everything was going the way it should
something that made me cry the last time you said it to me
when your eyes closed for the last time never opening again to see
i wish i could tell you one more time
to let you know i love you with its silly rhyme
so simple and pure it was
created for us just because
even now as it comes to me here
i speak it with softly falling teardrops knowing that you are not near
