Love Poem: Lover’s Eyes

Lover’s Eyes

Clasped like babe on breast to suck
As ancient forces blind
Cleave white and shadow one,
That force of love to bind.

Palm to lover’s palm conjoined,
Those partnered dancing hands
Fingers waltz in tandem drifts
And leap across the land.

Behold this gift from heaven
With oaken pools for eyes
Sunk deep into the forest
Drip honey from his hives.

Oh drown me in that syrup
That comes from oaken pools
Salty sweet my sweetheart’s tears
I lap like waters cool.

Affections drift like rainclouds
Across a fickle sky
But lover’s vows steadfast hold
Through flood and parched land dry.
