Love Poem: Loved

Loved

my Cat-
sleeping when she should be purring-
curled on my lap with my hand stroking
velvet silky so soft
but old age has come
running is but a dream now
playing a wish
bones ache
        brittle
             fragile
I recall the kitten in my hand-wonderful
the kitty so full of energy silky so soft
around the corner dancing hopping and twirling
and
old
age
was
     far
        away
but here it is my old girl
oh stay for the summer
            drink
      your
   milk
lay among the flowers
             in the cool shade
       oh please stay another day
and in my dream . . .
    with windy hair
                  I pick daisy flowers
buttercups
and wildflower dandelions
                             in a forest- wonderful
and take them
to your resting place
where you lay in death's repose
a cat loved loved and
     loved . . .
