Love Poem: Love Without

Love Without

I once knew a love that
Made air taste of honey,
His mere presence tickled
My belly.
His words made walls crumble
Instantly. Leaving an open space
For him to graze. But just as a wolf
Would consume their own litter, He
Quickly ingested all that I had
To give. This man in a mask, exposed
His true light, while turning off
My switch. After weeks of spring mornings
Came bitter winters, that froze
The waters of my soul.
Now echoes of laughter are
Whispers of regret, the truth
Slit his twine from my heart.
