Love Poem: Love Was Here

Love Was Here

deep sigh ...
expels sadness
picture window filled
with city lights, waltzing
the park trundles out below like
a black tongue, tasting ...
lights there, too, scattered like fireflies
'til they meld into more sparkled structure
breast of metropolis, bejeweled
dangling upward to tickle heaven
i oft' take it for granted
but it steals breath ... when considered
enough to help me forget, briefly ...
your empty champagne glass on the table
our song, haunting me delicately
the cigarette with lipstick stains
sputtering its last
like the night ...
like us.
