Love Poem: Love Story

Love Story

There is a place I want to take you…
It is a place of quiet waters,
   In great ever-still, pools.

There are reflections in the surfaces,
Huge mountains, that have always “been”.

It is warm there,
Like the desert after a summer storm,
Or moments late in October, never repeated.

The flowers around the circle are drawn from the box.
It is an isle set up for titans to play with elephants.

The whimsy of my heart is anew.
You have taken my thoughts,
Stolen, twisted and baked them into cookies.

The air is scented with fragrant color,
Blind poets speak to the deaf in song.
Yet I would give you anything if I had everything.

The reality, I have nothing,
The stark despair of my chances illuminates my desperation.

I grasp a pen,
I hold a paper,
I drain blood from my vein, or at least use red ink.

With bravery of heart…
I begin my story,
Fearing nothing but your willing or unwilling part.

A sentence, a word,
a symbol, on white…

Given beauty and form,
A life beyond measure,
Words to share with you, alone my treasure.
