Love Lost

Love, so perfect, my life so sweet,
My body satisfied, your presence its treat,
Your beauty and character, for me utterly complete,
Love, all encompassing nothing could compete.

Twelve years ago, was when it all started,
I never could have dreamt I'd've finished broken hearted,
For as great was my pleasure now is my devastation,
My present, my future my whole rational intention.

That Love is an enormity, an emotional expanse,
As is its opposite, torment, from an accident of chance,
And then my day brimmed of rarefied joy,
Now, I sit alone clutching your once favourite toy.

So I wonder Love, was it truly worthwhile?
Was it fair to have seen and lost your smile?
I remember Love and it racks me with pain,
Love so powerful, so true I'll never see you again.

I can't cope with the loss of my Love lost,
Nobody ever told me Love came at such at huge cost,
Now the pain drowns me, grief doesn't want me to breathe,
I'm gone, I give up, my sufferance is all I bequeath.
