Love Is the Greatest Gift

“1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Cor 13:1-7 NIV If I speak in tongues of men or angels But have not love I know not my Father Who pities me from above If I have the gift of prophecy Can fathom many mysteries Faith will not save me Without love’s securities Love does not delight in evil Is patient and kind If harmed by others No revenge comes to mind I’ll give what I possess To help the poor or blind Love never fails when— Faith, hope and love combine Love rejoices in truth Always protects and trusts Hopes and perseveres Does not tarnish or rust Love is what this world Craves for the most But many fail to find love Of God’s love they cannot boast! Love is the greatest Gift we can be given Without it much faith Still cannot touch heaven Love comes from God Mostly not deserved Because He sent His son His love not reserved.
