Love In the Dock
Why have they put love in chains
And cast it into social abyss?
Why is the purest gift of god,
So concealed, and fenced in barbs?
Why is love so hard to share
Even amongst people who care?
Why is a simple kiss so amiss
when between two a fervent wish?
Why is an expression of young love,
Consumed in a quagmire of fear?
Why not show an aged mother love?
And care for her as she did for you?
Why doesn’t social wisdom cut the chains?
And free love from all its pains?
Why is the greatest gift of god
Still in chains and so hard to share?
