Love Poem: Love For a Thousand Years

Love For a Thousand Years

I had a sweet dream that we were dancing, and the song was so beautiful and entrancing. We were lovers gliding on the dance floor, it was perfect and it was all I could ask for. Wedding guests watching just faded away, for we are lost in the words as we twirl and sway. It seems like a thousand years we waited, for love and now our destiny is fated. Around and around you twirl and hold me, and we mingle in a cloud of lights like birds free. You whisper our love is forever, but sadly, there was an eternal however. In the book of your life God has written, and your destiny dear could not be unwritten. Now, my heart beats as I stand all alone, the sweet music still playing in the trees that groan. Trying to be brave but I am afraid, time stands still for me but our love will not fade. I love you still and in a thousand years, and all I have to leave your today are my tears. __________________________ May 06, 2023 Poetry/Couplet/Love For A Thousand Years Copyright Protected, ID 05-1545-391-06 All Rights Reserved, 2023, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, Couplet Poetry sponsor, Sotto Poet, Judged 05/16/2023 First Place
