Love At First Sight
When I catch a glimpse of you
in the corner of my eye
acting spontaneous or silly,
I'm instantly transported
back in time
to the moment we first met,
and I can't help but smile.
In my heart, I picture you as you were
at that precise moment,
a playful, gregarious,
fun-loving soul that I felt I had to meet.
I saw you walking around the bar
with plastic swivel sticks stuck in your hair
and a huge smile lighting up your face,
and I fell in love.
Though it's been over forty-five years
I will never forget that night,
for that was the night my life changed.
Your personality was magnetic,
and it drew me to you
with such a compelling force,
that I can only explain it
as love at first sight.
If ever a match was made in heaven,
this was it.
The years have only strengthened
that initial feeling
and locked it into my memory,
where it continues to make me smile
and always will.
