Love and Freedom

How quickly do the seasons change,
From Winter to Spring, then Summer to Fall.
How far do human connections go?
Not forever, because we act like we forget it all.
Without you, at first, the world seemed lonely, and I was afraid.
But quickly did the outside appeal,
And all the negative started to fade.
Throughout it all we did our best.
Though others looking in will disagree.
The best is my last gift to you,
And your final gift to me.
Love and Freedom
That's all that is left of "us".
Nothing else remains.
Giving up on what we had was right.
I know because we both felt the same.
