Love Poem: Love and Death

Love and Death

Mi amor, how we adore us
feel how it tangles
deep in our hearts
we have fallen in love...

Darling, when I am gone
bury me under the soaring oak
beneath the Spanish Moss that shades you
where you read my love letters...

In love we are as mortals
dazzled and deluded
by the architecture of our bodies
lost in admiration of such glory...

Today let us live, mi amor
let us make such sweet love
before there is no more
of you and I...

One day you will miss me
dead and gone forever
then you will desire me
you will remember and want me...

Then you will visit my grave
throw kisses at my tombstone
why not give them to me now?
I am here before you..

Then after that day comes
and anyone mentions my name
awakening your secret pain
my beloved...

While you are beneath your tree
tell them you are not crying
it is just pollen in the warm breeze
that make your eyes weep...
