Love - Shouldn'T Have Won

I
before a month, I knew that laugh
it was musical, promising so much
in caring, learning we don't know enough
about JESUS and his plans and such

II
then we prayed mornings at the Home
that mix of elder care and young tenants
rules said we could not fraternize, come
visiting at odd hours: i left because of rents

III
The rising cost of housing, albeit
It was a Senior Center, non-profit
It was perfect for sharing Jesus, and repeat
I was gone a few weeks and she located me

IV
That reunion made everything clear
I needed her near, or at least a Dear
Our ages poles apart, she had no fear
Of gossip, a gold-digger and The Senior

V
The days when you were gone (life calls)
Those days were a haze; I looked at the clock
Too often, at my Bible a little, friends were false
You came: the universe righted itself. Lover in shock
