Love Poem: Love, Still

Love, Still

The accent is there, I know, I hear it
You put an “r” at the end of your words
You don’t like my poetry, well that’s okay
To dislike you for that would be absurd

You have gotten older, I cannot lie about that
As years do grace you with lines, but with style
The glow from your being when I look your way
Makes me feel again, like a playful child

Sometimes we fight, oh and ever so bad
But I know that which you say, is not true
Darling, despite all the things that we say
Know in your heart, I will always love you

See, it’s not the girl of twenty that shares my life
It’s the girl, of twenty years I’ve shared it with
For that, my love, I am grateful, filled complete
So for you now, my love, I give a kiss

No changes to you can ever change the way I feel
Age has no bearing on this moment, as my love is still real
