Love Poem: Lost Without You

Lost Without You

The hardest thing for me
Was when we had to say goodbye
You told me go and don’t look back
So that I wouldn’t see you cry

Our time together was so fleeting
Your time was up, you had to go
My life without you lost all meaning
I hope you knew I loved you so

I feel your presence when a breeze
Brushes like your fingers against my cheek
You meant the world to me
And no replacement will I seek

So many times we disagreed
Over trivial little matters
Both too stubborn to apologise
Leaving a relationship in tatters

Many times I sit and ponder
As I face your empty chair
And wish that just for one more moment
I could see you sitting there

Life is far too short to bear a grudge
And true love can be so fleeting
It’s the thought that we’ll be reunited
That keeps my lonely heart beating

You were taken far too soon
And grief caused my heart to break
But your pain became too much to bear
And my one true friend the lord did take

When we meet again on the other side
I know the joy that it will bring
The day that you were taken
An angel gained its golden wings
