Love Poem: Lost Love

Lost Love

I see
that look
in your eyes.

 The one
that says
I want you.

And I wish
with all
my heart
that it
was true.

Because
that look
is no longer
for me

but for
your
new love.

It was
chance
that made
me stop
here today.

And maybe
it was chance
that made
you stop
as well.

So
here we
sit,
sipping
coffee.

As you
talk about
her,
I see the
smile on
your face
that I fell
in love with.

And it
hurts
to know
that I can
no longer
claim it
for me.

And as I
listen to you,
I remember
our time
together
and what
finally tore
us apart.

As much
as I love you
I cannot be
what you need
or want.

With a
last swallow
of bittersweet
coffee and
memories,
I wish you
much happiness
and leave.

I feel
lighter now
as I walk
out the
door
and with
a finger
I wipe
away a
lone tear.
