Lost Love

Gone with the early spring
No explanation, no reason why
Had set all her dreams in motion
Now she gazes out into the mist
Surrounded by a prison of white
What was lost could not be found
Her mind rolling in constant turmoil
Recollections of his handsome face
Dismayed at what had gone wrong
She had willingly let him go
Never to touch never to hold
His one touch broke all barriers
Of her black and white world
Brightened it with colors
Rare feelings no longer hidden
Broke her out of her prison walls
She catches a falling crystalline tear
Gently picks up the pressed rose
Folded in the pages of a book
Her fingers tremble with hidden emotion
Was their love as fragile as this delicate flower
It was like paradise almost dream like
Now fortress walls begin to surround
her innocent heart once again
Slowly she replaced the rose in the book
Dreams broken so many words left unspoken
Only memories to sustain her.
